2025 Lexus GX vs 2025 Toyota Land Cruiser

With a relatively minor delta at starting price of approximately $6800, does it make sense to stick with the Land Cruiser as opposed to the much more luxurious option of the GX?

There are differences for the price variance, of course. Mostly, engine:

Land Cruiser - I4 Turbo Hybrid

GX - Twin Turbo V6 and 10 speed automatic transmission

If you don't mind the extra cost of fuel and want the power, the GX is your choice. However, the inline 4 cylinder (originally introduced in the new hybrid Tacoma) does have an "off-the-line" advantage with the electric assistance.

Overall, I think the engine feel/power and luxury touches of the GX are what set it apart from the Land Cruiser. At the end of the day, however, your style may be the deciding factor. Each comes with it's own cache in different circles.

The no nonsense types who don't want the badge, will opt for the Land Cruiser and those who appreciate a little more refinement in their ride will probably go for the GX.

Either way, you can't lose. The predecessors to the new models are some of the most coveted in the classic and aftermarkets still fetching hefty sums from enthusiasts.
